There are four reasons why I should be given the chance to experience the rich blend in culture, cuisine, arts and architecture of Singapore. And these are:

I will not blog about it and keep the experience to myself…..NOT! – Of course I will share my experience and blog about it in my travel blog Our Paradise Philippines. And not only that, I will even live blog every significant places that I will be able to visit. I’ll be bringing along my iPhone and my netbook and go online the moment I feel like sharing anything. I heard Singapore is a Wi-Fi country, so I that means I can blog anytime, anywhere.

I will tell my kids how bad a country Singapore is……NOT! – Why would I do that? I’ve heard so many things about Singapore from my wife, colleagues and friends. I’m pretty sure I going to see many good things about Singapore.

I will not eat street foods and other Singapore cuisine….NOT! Why would I not? I often eat in Singaporean restaurants in Manila. And I long to have a taste of a real and authentic Singaporean food for so many years now.

I will not roam around the Lion City. I will just stay in my room…..NOT! Of course I will visit every special tourist spot in Singapore. As much as my time would allow me to. I’m afraid of flying so whenever I get the chance to ride a plane, it’s definitely one of those rare moments. So, the least I can do after mustering the courage to ride the plane again is to enjoy the place where the plane would bring me to.

If I am given the chance to indulge in the uniquely Singapore experience I will not plan an itinerary. I go where ever my feet and my eyes lead me to. Why my eyes? Because my eyes will dictate to my feet which road or way to go through. The important thing is – I will definitely visit every streets and alleys in Singapore.

Those are the reason why I should be given a chance to indulge in the uniquely Singapore experience.

It was the usual day at work. Ok, to be blunt about it, a boring day at work. What can be so exciting on a Thursday afternoon with the last day of work week staring at you like a little girl taunting you with her lolipop.

You look around. Lo and behold! There’s your boss staring at his laptop. One of your co-workers speaking with somebody on the phone. Another one savaging his keyboard, iPod earphones on two ears. Two of you co-workers talking about the latest movies they’ve seen. Another one leveling up his character in Facebook’s Mafia Wars.

Ok, should I stop now? You got the picture right?

What then should do? Are you going to be one of them. Will you just let the hours tick by?

Ching! Suddenly you remembered something. You pull your desk drawer and there you see, complete with shimmering ray of light – a can of Sour n’ Cream Pringles!

You stood up. Give two 5 pieces of Pringles to each of your co-workers and then one by one you point a finger at each of of your co-workers.

As if mesmerized by an unexplained force. Your co-workers start munching the Pringles one after the other. You didn’t need to tell who is next to munch. You co-workers did it like a synchronize beat of the keyboards. And then everyone was munching – including you!

Everybody was having Krunch. Until your boss arrives.

And you go back to your otherwise boring work life. Wishing, hoping and praying for the next time you’d all going to say…

“It’s Krrunch Time, Get Playful!”

Just doing my share…

You’ve probably read the news, watched the video (try searching YouTube for keyworks – “Ondoy”), saw the photos and all. Now it’s our turn to help.Got this from Shai Coggins’ blog. Just click on the link to donate.

The Philippine National Red Cross is one of the major organisations providing aid to those affected by the floods. Wherever you are in the world, you can send your donations to them through this online donations form. Choose “Typhoon Ondoy” in the Project/Activity drop down selection.

UPDATE: I just found PhilippineAid, a place where you can send donations via Paypal using ChipIn. They also intend to send the amount collected to PNRC. So, I decided that that’s a probably better way of doing it instead of starting a separate collection.

Note: Was among those who were lucky enough to be spared from the flood waters in Marikina Area. Our village was just nearby.

Anyway I registered to attend the event but haven’t gone to the last step of paying the registration fee. I still have a couple of weeks to decide whether I will attend or not. The good thing about WordCamp 2009 is the fact that it will be held at AIM in Makati. It’s quite near and accessible than St. Benilde in Taft where WordCamp 2008 was held.

Apple has just released version 2.1 of the iPhone 3G software. If you’re like me and this is your first time to update your iPhone’s OS, you’d probably had a hard time. Just a bit of advice when updating your iPhone software, don’t even think about downloading the OS if you’re at home and using any of the broadband internet connection. I’ve got a MyDSL connection and it took me several tries at downloading the OS until I finally gave up. It would be better if you can go to a Wi-Fi hotspot and download the OS using their connection.

Anyway, if Internet connection speed is not a problem, go ahead and update your iPhone’s software. Just connect your iPhone to your PC and the iTunes apps will fire up and ask you to update. If you have an iTunes version lower than version 8, you’ll will have to upgrade to that version first.

Here are the change log for the 2.1 Software Update:

Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls – unverified yet

Significantly better battery life for most users – unverified yet

Dramatically reduced time to backup to iTunes – verified, yes

Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts – verified, yes

Faster installation of 3rd party applications – definitely way faster now

Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications – unverified

Improved performance in text messaging – hmm, how?

Faster loading and searching of contacts – a bit faster now

Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display – definitely better now

Repeat alert up to two additional times for incoming text messages – unverified yet

Option to wipe data after ten failed passcode attempts – unverified

Genius playlist creation – unfortunately, this is the coolest new feature and yet it is not available in the Philippines yet. Bummer!

Still no copy and paste feature and picture messaging.

Although, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 has got nothing much to brag about in terms of innovativeness and product features, the release of the Inspiron Mini 9 is still highly anticipated because Dell’s competitors have released their own netbooks a long time ago. Anyway, Dell Philippines confirmed that the Inspiron Mini 9 will be arriving in the Philippines sometime in October. Pricing information and exact release date is still unannounced though.
