Smart Communications has just rolled out its new postpaid Freedom Plans. Simply put, these are new affordable mobile data plans that “let you pay only for what you consumer or use.” Unlike the usual Smart postpaid plans, Freedom Plans have no fixed monthly fee aka MSF, no lock-in, no obligation, and the price starts from zero pesos.
In a way, it’s like having a prepaid SIM without loads. But being a postpaid plan, you’ll receive monthly billing statements and you get to pay only on set time. The amount you have to pay depends on how much you’ve used your mobile data privileges. In short – Freedom Plans gives you the control instead of it controlling you.
To subcribe to a Smart Freedom Plan, just visit the nearest Smart Wireless Center and bring with you a Valid ID and Php250 to pay for the one-time application fee. As soon as you go out of the Center, you’ll have the Freedom SIM pack with you.
More information about the Smart Freedom Plans can be found here.
Officially, summer has not ended yet despite the occassional downpours. So, it’s not too late to grab any one of the three smartphone deals being offered by LG Philippines. This is part of the LG Summer Price Drop Deals. The three LG Smartphones are the LG Prada, LG Optimus Black and LG Optimus Net Dual Sim.
I’ve read and heard about the LG Prada and LG Optimus Black before but I didn’t know that there is the LG Optimus Net Dual Sim. But anyway, the offers are as follow:
- LG Prada for Php 25,990 (Original Price – Php 29,990)
- LG Optimus Black for Php 13,990 (Original Price – Php 15,990)
- LG Optimus Net Dual Sim for Php 7,990 (Original Price – Php 8,990)
Seems like the LG Prada is the best deal of them all considering that it’s being offered 4K less from its original price. Specs-wise, it also has the best of the three phones. These features include 4.3-inch NOVA High Brightness Display, 1.0GHz dual-core processor, Android Gingerbread, and 8MP camera.

In case you slept ealier last night, you surely missed the announcement about one of the most awaited iOS app which just landed in Google Play. I’m talking about Instagram which was finally released for Android smartphones. Instagram for Android brings all the good features of its iPhone counterpart, well, with minor shortcomings. This means that the Android version of Instagram is sort of inferior to the iPhone version.
The good news is that the photo filters, social sharing feature, and other goodies in the app. What you’ll miss is the tilt-shift feature. If you’re not a fan of that feature, well you’ll surely love Instagram for Android.
The app is available now as a free download from Google Play. It allows you to follow other Instagram users, leave a comment on photos and mark them as your favorites. If you want to follow me on Instagram, my account is “aczafra.” Follow me and I’ll follow you.

Move over Smart Netphone, here comes Globe’s answer – the new CloudFone Ice. And though it may not come with Smartnet, the CloudFone Ice will be more appealing to the mass market, especially because of its dirt cheap price – P 4,990. I’m not familiar with Cherry Mobile Android phones, but correct me if I’m wrong, it seems that with that SRP, the CloudFone Ice just became the cheapest Android smartphone in the Philippines, right?
Anyway, CloudFone Ice boasts of the following features:
- 3.2-inch full touch screen display (320×480)
- Android 2.1
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
- FM Radio
- 3.15MP camera
- 32GB storage via microSD card
To sweeten the deal, you can grab the CloudFone Ice with the prepaid kit and immediately register under Globe’s PowerSurf mobile data subscription. I’m currently enrolled on PowerSurf 99 and I can tell you that this subscription is truly worth it. It gives you 50MB data surfing allowance for 30 days. If you’re not too heavy on mobile web browsing, this plan is good enough to last you one month of checking emails, updating Facebook and posting Tweets.
The Globe CloudFone Ice is also available on Globe’s P499 mobile data plan.
To avail of this cheap Android smartphone, simply a Globe store and ask for the CloudFone Ice.
