Smart to Accept BlackBerry PlayBook Pre-Orders on Monday, Aug 8

For those who skipped the iPad 2 and other Android tablets, you’re probably waiting for the BlackBerry PlayBook, right? If yes, well you’re wait will soon be almost over. Smart  Communications has announced that pre-orders of the BlackBerry PlayBook will start on Monday, Aug. 8 and will run until August 17, 2011.

Since, Smart is very generous like its President, they are offering the BlackBerry PlayBook for free.  Of course, you have to be tied up to a 24 months contract with Smart. Smart is offering two data plans that will earn one unit of the BlackBerry PlayBook. These are Plan 3000 which entitles you to free BlackBerry PlayBook plus a BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9105. A higher Plan 4000 is also available and will come with a BlackBerry Torch 9800.

If those two data plans seem too expensive for you, you can opt to get the BlackBerry PlayBook on a prepaid configurations. You just need to pay extra P50 for a one day unlimited surfing or P35 a day for unlimited email and messaging. Or if you’re such a social media maven, you might want to get the BlackBerry Lite Social Bundle which will cost you only P35 a day.

In case you’re wondering why Smart is bundling the PlayBook with a BlackBerry smartphone, well that’s because you need it to access your email, BBM, messages, calendar, address book, documents and other content by connecting the PlayBook with a BlackBerry phone via the BlackBerry Bridge app. The PlayBook once connected with your phone will use up the phone’s internet connectivity.
