  1. saw one today at the local cdrking. i’m still in shock with how big cdrking is today. still remember them as a one window service biz in the old virramall.

their ereader is a great product!

totally lacking from the experience of an ipad but you cant beat the price and feature set offered. narrow the scope of your expectations and you’ll agree it IS worth the money 🙂

  2. I’ve tested it yesterday at CD-r King MOA. Medyo matagal magload ng ebook – yung natry ko epub file. It needs to load the entire book before you’ll be able to start reading without lag. Pag PDF format naman, yung fit sa screen, maliit ang letters. pag zinoom mo naman, hindi na sakto sa screen yung text. It plays mp3 and recognizes album covers. it can play mp3 in the background while reading a book BUT nagsi-skip yung music or jumps. I guess the processor can’t take multitasking. it plays video. tried avi format, an episode of the vampire diaries i downloaded online. hindi seamless ang movement. halatang may lag ng konti. i don’t know if there’s a specific format na mas maayos magpeplay but it didn’t with an avi file. it also says on their website that it supports 720P player. It actually doesn’t. It didn’t recognize the 720P avi file I tried loading. It also has an FM radio which is a plus. PInakadownside is super hina ng speaker.

  3. @Rhon – wow thanks for the info, I’ve been searching for feedbacks in the ebook reader, pero is it worth it for it’s price? I’ve always wanted to buy one xD

  4. I bought the product last November and have been using it extensively. My comments”
    1. The reader works well with PDF files and TXT (unicode) format. You have to convert epub and lit to Txt in order to appreciate the bold fonts and clear contrast of the screen, Pictures of PDF books and mags show up well but the types are so small it gives you a headache after a while.
    2. The video player works well with AVI and FLV type of video. The sound is very good when you use the earphones.
    3. The audio function is also good . . . it can produce high quality sound . .when you play your mp3 files.
    4. My main problem with the reader are the control keys. They become stuck after frequent use (I have been using the reader for 4 months now) specially the page controllers on the left and the video and audio controllers on the right.. Once it gets stuck . . you end up with a “runaway” viewer that shows your materials on a fast forward mode. Quite irritating. I had to pry open the problematic key.
The reader works well . . except for the controls. If the manufacturers can solve this, then the product will be something that can give more expensive readers a run for their money. Students on a tight budget can also benefit from this.

  5. As an ebook reader. This is a piece of junk. Takes 10 seconds or more to power on. ePub takes forever to load. PDF is better but will depend on how it is formatted. Converting your ePub to PDF is hit-or-miss even with Calibre.

The beauty of an ebook is you can change the font size and the book will reflow, with it’s sub-par ePUB performance, that means no reflow. PDF will zoom, not reflow, so you might have to scroll horizontally and vertically for each page if you zoom in.

Average as a video player, but bombs as an ebook reader,

Good screen, and nice fonts, but useless as an ebook reader. AVOID at all cost. Get an Android clone for near the same price and install Laputa or FBReader or Aldiko on it, now that’s an ebook reader. Still not Galaxy Tab great, but 1000% times (I am not joking) better than this CDR-King ebook Reader.
