So, I just spent 4 hours of my precious Sunday waiting in line at the Shangri-La Makati this afternoon to get my iPhone 4. My appointment slot was 1-2 pm. I was there 30 minutes earlier but was told by the Globe staff that I can only enter the area at exactly 1 pm. 10 minutes before 1pm, another Globe staff started calling people with 1pm appointment. It’s a good thing I didn’t leave the place to wait somewhere else. So, I got in the pre-assessment counter where a Globe staff checked if I have the necessary requirements as detailed in the confirmation email they sent earlier.
So, I passed through step 1 – next step the long, agonizing wait begun. We were directed to a line. There were around 50 people ahead of me. Ten people are allowed to enter the main transaction area at a time…After 30 minutes I was finally directed inside the Rizal Ballroom, hoping that a transaction counter awaits me. But surprised! Inside was another waiting area, consisting of 100 chairs. This time, the waiting is longer since people are called one by one depending on the available CSR counter.
After waiting for 1 1/2 hours I finally made it. I was called to approach a counter. The transaction went smoothly except when the Globe CSR directed me to have my iPhone passed through “unbricking.” I thought they were going to jailbreak my new iPhone 4 but instead it was an activation process. They wanted me to open my iPhone 4 and have it activated via iTunes. I was protesting about it but the Globe Team Leader insisted that it was an SOP. Since when?
Anyway, I was too tired to argue. I let them activate my iPhone 4 and then left.
In short, I am now a proud owner of a Globe locked, iPhone 4. What’s your iPhone 4 story?
