Oy! Amazon.com just announced the Amazon Kindle International version. This is the 6-inch older version of the Kindle not yet the Kindle DX. They are selling it for $279 and I think it will come with a SIM slot to allow international users to connect to the web via 3G or Wi-Fi.
Unlike the Amazon Kindle in the U.S., the international version will no longer be dependent on the Whispernet to connect to the Amazon Kindle Store.
Looks like Amazon is emptying its inventory of the Amazon Kindle so making it available internationally is the way to go.
Would you buy an Amazon Kindle? I’m actually thinking about it. The price is still a little bit stiff for an e-book reader. But it’s going to be cool.

I’ve put together a table that lists every country in which Kindle is available along with number of books, their pricing, wireless availability etc at http://blogkindle.com/2009/10/international-release-of-kindle-2/
