It looks like Globe has been observing the online community especially those sites who ranted about the high price tag that Globe had put on the iPhone 3G. I’ve aired my rant over at Appletell and even got some b**** slapping from those who think that the Globe price tag for the iPhone 3G was not too high. It’s not that I’m complaining really but just wanted to point out that although Globe has every right to release the iPhone 3G at such expensive prices, for us who haven’t monitoring and watching the worldwide iPhone market can’t help but be appalled by Globe’s price tag.
But, Yugatech got a tip from a Globe representative that Globe has lowered the introductory price of the Prepaid iPhone kit, from the previous Php41,889 for the 8GB and Php48,889 for the 16GB to Php37,599 and Php43,799 respectively. In addition, Globe is also introducing some freebies to go along with the postpaid iPhone kits.
Incidentally, Globe has started calling subscribers who have reserved the iPhone 3G online discussing pricing and options. My wife was offered an 8GB iPhone 3G for Php 26,600 with a 2-years lock-in period of her Globe plan 500 subscription. Not a bad deal since she has no plans of cancelling her postpaid anyway.
So, hopefully we’ll get our 8GB iPhone 3G by next week or the week after, depending on how efficient Globe will be on this thing.
