The iPhone is Coming to the Philippines via Globe Telecom

Yeah baby! I know it’s long overdue. But it looks like the iPhone is heading to Manila. Engadget cited this report from Reuters, announcing the launch of the iPhone in Asia. Singtel snagged the distribution rights in Singapore and hence it will also be bringing the iPhone to India via its Bharti Group, Optus for Australia, and yes GLOBE Telecom for the Philippines.

Hmm…looks like this is going to be another hit for Globe Telecoms. And considering the not so expensive price of the iPhone in the U.S. and U.K., I wonder how much it will offer the iPhone to the Philippine mobile consumer?

My guess around is around P30,000 ($700). The question is WHEN?

UPDATE: Here’s the official announcement from Globe Telecoms site.
