Buff it Up with Wii

July 25, 2007 · Posted in Gadgets

nintendo_wii_aczafra.jpgI think this is enough reason for me to buy a Wii gaming console. An article at Yahoo News reports of a Canadian Health Club utilizing Nintendo’s “gaming” console as part of its fitness program. Studio 55 has introduced to its club members the use of Wii in the club’s circuit training schedule.

The club owner estimates that one session of Wii boxing, tennis or bowling utilizing the Wii’s ultra sensitive controller could burn 75 to 125 calories. Not bad for a fitness activity that you get to enjoy doing. Definitely way better than those boring threadmills and stationary bikes that we usually see in fitness gyms.

I wonder which major fitness club in Metro Manila will get to use the Wii in their training programs, Gold’s Gym? Fitness First? or Slimmer’s World? That would certainly be a hit among fitness buff and console gamers.
