Hierarchy of Successful (Filipino) Bloggers

July 20th, 2007 | Filed under Web 2.0.

Daniel of Daily Blog Tips categorized the different kinds of bloggers and came up with a hierarchy of successful bloggers. He divided the different types of bloggers into four categories, defined each of the levels and cited example of successful bloggers in each of the categories. Here’s my version of the hierarchy of bloggers but more specifically successful Filipino bloggers. Unlike Daniel’s examples, I included technology bloggers but excluded also celebrity and humor blogs.

Here are the different types of zuccessful Filipino bloggers categorized into 4 levels: (the definitions are Daniel’s while the examples are mine)

  • Blogger - People that are just getting started, or that have been blogging for a while as a hobby and have no particular interest of making it a more serious gig. They make little or no money from their blogs. Example would have to be the numerous Filipino bloggers who have an account or two at Blogspot. Specific example would have to be Gokitomo and Watson Online, unless they make a lot of money from blogging which they have not divulge to their readers yet.
  • Established - People with a good exposure around the blogosphere. At this level bloggers start to earn some money (over $1000) and to attract more readers.  Like the Blogger category, there are also a lot of established Filipino bloggers already in existence sincea couple of years ago. Examples would have to be Anton’s Awesome Planet, Von’s Filipino Librarian, About My Recovery,  to name just a few.
  • Expert - Bloggers that lead a niche and make a solid monthly income from it. Their opinion is highly influential, and their blogs have very active communities. J Angelo’s J Spot is the first Filipino blog that comes into my mind when I think of an expert Filipino blogger. Migz Paraz is also an expert blogger. Hmm, I’m running out of good exaple under this category.
  • Guru - This type of blogger has a huge audience. Gurus usually reach other media like conferences and mainstream newspapers. Money is not a problem anymore. - Now this is a no brainer. Who else could be the guru of blogging but Abe of Yugatech. If Marc would update his blog more often, he and abe would share the spot of being the gurus of successful Filipino bloggers.

Those are just examples of blog I know and I frequently read. If you have some other blog and bloggers in mind, feel free to add them by leaving a comment.
