I got mine courtesy of Yugatech.com. Pownce is the newest kid on the block of social networking start-up where you can send messages, files, links and events to your network of friends (who got to be in the Pownce network as well).
Brought to you by Kevin Rose of Digg.com and a couple of his friends, Pownce is a new way to communicate with friends. Although in the league of other start ups such as the getting to be popular, Twitter.com, Pownce hopes to get a piece if not the whole of the social networking pie.
I first saw this YouTube video of Cebu Inmates, all 1,500 of them doing their own version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, at John Chow’s blog. Then at Sarah Meyers blog who mentioned that it was already posted at BoingBoing. Michael Kwan also picked the video and posted it in his blog as well. So, I decided to check out YouTube and found several uploads already. The original upload already has more than 2million page views! Here’s the video of the Filipino inmates from Cebu doing their own version of Thriller:
I think this is enough reason for me to buy a Wii gaming console. An article at Yahoo News reports of a Canadian Health Club utilizing Nintendo’s “gaming” console as part of its fitness program. Studio 55 has introduced to its club members the use of Wii in the club’s circuit training schedule.

SwitchPlanet is a super-cool way to exchange your used CDs, DVDs, video games and books for new ones that you may later exchange as well, after using those items. Actually, super-cool is not the appropriate term, but “noble†is a better term to describe SwitchPlanet. Noble in the sense that in avertedly, it promotes the 3Rs of environmental friendliness – reuse, reduce and recycle.
Daniel of Daily Blog Tips categorized the different kinds of bloggers and came up with a hierarchy of successful bloggers. He divided the different types of bloggers into four categories, defined each of the levels and cited example of successful bloggers in each of the categories. Here’s my version of the hierarchy of bloggers but more specifically successful Filipino bloggers. Unlike Daniel’s examples, I included technology bloggers but excluded also celebrity and humor blogs.

I was checking out Google Webmaster Tools to see if my paradise Philippines blog entry was doing ok in terms of getting crawled and indexed by Google’s meta crawlers, when I noticed the message center link on the upper right hand corner of the Webmaster Tools’ dashboard. A quick look at the Google Webmaster Central Blog clarified what the link was about.
Time to sharpen those creative graphic design skills and join the official Gmail T-Shirt Design contest. The prizes may not be as cool and as grand as other prizes of other online contests. But this one’s officially sponsored by Google, and you don’t only go away with an iPhone or Bluetooth headset or some gift certificates, but you get to keep the bragging rights of designing the official Gmail T-shirt. Now, that’s some incentive for going back to the drawing board and extracting all your creative juices and draw the ultimate geek’s t-shirt design.
The search engine scene has been pretty much exciting this week, or better yet Google has been pretty much in the use. Here are some of IT news that caught my attention this week:
- Nielsen/Net Ratings, the leader in site metrics on the web is changing its ranking methodology for websites. Instead of the old page views ranking technique, it will now give more wait on the lenght of time a user has visited a site to measure its ranking,
