Five Weeks to a Social Library

February 20, 2007 · Posted in Library and Information Science

..is the first free, grassroots, completely online course devoted to teaching librarians about social software and how to use it in their libraries. It was developed to provide a free, comprehensive, and social online learning opportunity for librarians who do not otherwise have access to conferences or continuing education and who would benefit greatly from learning about social software.

This is one online seminar that every librarian seeking to learn about web 2.0 application in the library should consider taking in the future. (The online seminar started one week ago) The course content covers:

  • blogs
  • rss
  • wikis
  •  social networking software and social life
  • flickr
  • social bookmarking software
  • selling social software at your library

You can view the actual course content and program at the online seminar’s site.
