YouTube Purges 30,000 Video Files

October 21, 2006 · Posted in Web 2.0

Got this from BBC news:

A few days after Google acquires YouTube, 30,000 video files from its system after receiving the Japan Society for Rights of Author, Composers and Publishers complained videos being posted at YouTube without permission. So whose next to file a complaint? Is this the start of the end of YouTube. YouTube users patronize the video service not because of those silly home made videos, but because of those video caps from their favorite TV series which they failed to watch on TV. MTVs, old TV series, commercials. These are the type of videos which make YouTube a hit in the online world.

Will these purging do YouTube more harm than good?
