Batasan 5 and Voltes V

May 9th, 2006 | Filed under Music and Movies.

The so called Batasan 5 is out of the Congress after being held “captive” for almost 70 days. They missed their home and family they say, and yet the first thing they did upon stepping out of the Congress vicinity is walked to U.P. Diliman with their supporters to stage a welcome rally. And in that rally, they promised to continue their “struggle” amidst the tirade of Justice Secretary Raul J. telling them “mamundok na lang kayo” (you better go back to the mountains).

I couldn’t help but envy theseĀ  five Philippine politicians. They are not “big political figures” who earn big bucks and yet they could afford not to go to work for 70 days. I wonder how they able to sustain their families’ needs especially in times of crisis that our country is facing nowadays. And yes, they do represent the masses, and so they say.

Meanwhile, our favorite super robot hero of the 70s, Voltes V isĀ  resurrected by ABS-CBN’s Anime Channel - Hero. Several years after it’s rival network, GMA 7 succesfully re-aired the famous super robot, it’s ABS-CBN’s turn to milk some cash from the popularity of Voltes V. To boost audience interest, ABS-CBN is re-dubbing the whole series with the voices of “well-known” local celebrities such as Dennis Trillo (as Steve Armstrong), Sandara Parks (as Jamie Robertsons), ex-PBB housemate Bob Dela Cruz (as Big Bert), Jett Pangan of the Dawn as Draco, among others.

The show is being relaunched as Voltes V - Evolution. It will be aired Every Saturday and Sunday on Hero Channel.

Since you’re one of many Voltes V fans, I thought you’d like to see this RARE VIDEO CLIP of an original Voltes V TV Advert, which was aired back in the ’70s & ’80s. Enjoy! (nostalgiamanila.blogspot.com)
