UPLSAA at 56
March 26th, 2006 | Filed under Library and Information Science.I attended the University of the Philippines Library Science Alumni Association (UPLSAA) Homecoming and General Assembly last Saturday at the Bonsai Garden in U.P. Diliman Campus.
Aside from the fact that I didn’t make it in the incoming board for 2006-2007, there was nothing to write about the event. There were few participants, most of them belongs to the “ageing” era, while a handful belongs to the new generation of librarianas. If my memory serves me right, I think this is only the third or fouth time that I attended the UPLSAA Homecoming in a span of 13 years. The last time I attended the event was I think in 1999 or 2000 when I was elected to serve in the Board. Nothing much have changed in terms of celebrating this annual event since then. Of course, the highlight was still the awarding of certificates for the Golden Jubilarians and the Silver Jubilarians and the announcement of the new executive board.
Hah! I said, there was nothing to write about the event and yet I just wrote something. Anyways, good luck to the incoming board and I hope you continue reaching out to the “long lost” alumni of the UP Institute of Library Science and encourage them to join the homecoming next year. And I also hope that you’d consider getting a domain name for the UPLSAA. Last time I checked, uplsaa.com and uplsaa.org is still available. Contact me if you need help.

I second that proposal…
[...] It was brought to my attention that I might have offended some fellow librarians when I wrote in my previous post that the attendees of the 56th UPLSAA Homecoming and General Assembly were mostly belonging to the “ageing” era. Well, let me clarify my point and at the same time apologize to those whom I have offended. My sincerest apologies. [...]
The new UPLSAA executive board has availed of the domain, http://www.uplsaa.org/. We also have a webhost (4G/month). Thanks to some of our generous alumni who helped.
Congratulations Ronald! and thanks to those generous alumni.:-)
