Orkut?

If you login to your Google Account, you’ll see a link to new services on the left navigation panel. One of these services is Orkut. Of course I got curious and checked it out. From the Orkut main page, it says that Orkut is

is an online community that connects people through a network of trusted friends.

Hmm, Google’s answer to the widely used Friendster? I tried signing up but the site is by invitation only through member-invite-new member scheme, ala G-Mail before. I wonder if Google is going to send mass invites later on?
